The Ministry of the Interior and Health was established on February 23rd 2010

About the Ministry

Denmark is divided into 98 municipalities (kommuner) and five regions (regioner), each covering several municipalities. Only the municipalities are considered local authorities. The rules concerning regional government are laid down in the Regional Government Act.

The Ministry of the Interior and Social Affairs is responsible for performing tasks in connection with general elections, referendums, elections to local and regional councils as well as elections of Danish members to the European Parliament.
